Eteocles has been given a proper burial, but Creon, Antigone’s uncle who has inherited the throne, has issued a royal edict banning the burial of Polyneices, who he believes was a traitor. Antigone defies the law and buries her brother, placing personal allegiance before politics, a tenacious act that will trigger a cycle of destruction. It is a searing tale of love, power, the greater good, and the question of who decides the rule of the law – the government or its people. Combining the mediums of acting, physical theatre, and dance, the IStage Performance Ensemble brings modern theatricality to this revered classic.
