9601 Magic Suitcase

Ages 4-5

June 20-30 (No camp on Monday, June 19)

2 Weeks

Imagination Stage

The lid is covered with faded stickers from far off destinations and the hinge is barely able to contain the things inside. You don’t know what’s in there, but you can be sure whatever it is will take you on an adventure. Mittens for arctic adventure? Sunglasses for a trip to the desert? Grandpa’s watch for a trip back in time? Open the magic suitcase to find out where we’re going today! Students work together to explore stories that coordinate with the destination of the day through dramatic play, movement, music, and visual art. Students also use simple props and prompts to create characters and bring stories to life. This camp encourages creative expression and promotes self-esteem while working on skills such as active listening, problem-solving, and sharing. Pack your suitcases and join us on a magical journey!

A typical day at camp begins with free-play stations, followed by interactive story time, a drama activity, snack break (snack is brought from home), a movement or dance activity, visual art, and a closing activity. At the end of the session, campers share these adventures (and their newly sharpened theatre arts skills!) in an informal sharing for friends and family on the last day of camp.
