Rising Grades 6-8
August 7-11

Let’s get physical! In the mornings, campers explore the genre of physical comedy and learn how to make an audience laugh through character-based movement. Campers develop their understanding of the importance of timing in comedy, and of course, no clowning camp experience would be complete without learning how to safely smack someone with a giant crayon.
After an active morning, the afternoon introduces us to Shakespeare! Campers gain a basic understanding of who Shakespeare was and his contributions to the theatre world. Throughout the week, students explore the diverse characters of his plays, the heightened story moments, and learn how Shakespeare used language to tell the stories we still perform today. Acting exercises and character exploration come together as student performers take selected scenes from the page and onto the stage.
Campers provide their own nut-free lunch and snacks. Week-long after-care is available (4:00-6:00 p.m.).
