9639 Acting for the Camera | Musical Theatre: Wicked

Rising Grades 6-8

August 21-25

9:00-4:00

1 week

Imagination Stage

$550

This camp gives students the opportunity to work in front of a camera and in front of a live audience. Mornings are spent learning how to adapt their acting technique from stage to screen. Campers are introduced to a variety of exciting and challenging film-specific needs such as shooting scenes out of order (sequencing), blocking (consistency and hitting your mark), and film shots (adjusting for close-up shots and wide shots).

Then in the afternoon, put the camera away and circle up by the piano. Campers learn and stage one or two popular musical numbers from the hit Broadway show Wicked, while diving into character and story within the songs. Using warm-ups, theatre games, and singing exercises, campers develop an understanding of ensemble and musical theatre staging.

Campers provide their own nut-free lunch and snacks. Week-long after-care is available (4:00-6:00 p.m.).
