Directing is about far more than simply being in charge. The theatre director provides artistic vision for a production and must possess the skills to communicate this to their cast. Students in this camp hone their vision, craft their communication style, and challenge their collaborative skills as they take a turn in the director’s chair. Through discussions and exercises in text analysis and staging, students learn to create dynamic stage pictures and meaningful movement while effectively communicating and collaborating with their actors. Students direct short scenes and serve as actors for classmates, giving them a further appreciation for other directing styles.
