“Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open sewer.” - Mel Brooks. Learn how to take that fall safely! Drawing from classic comedic styles like slapstick and mime this camp fuses physical acting and stage combat techniques. Students learn to create controlled and safe combat scenes on stage then apply some of the core skills of comedy (timing, repetition, exaggeration) to get their audiences rolling in the aisles. Through observing their peers, students hone their vision and how to “sell” moments on stage. Students unite all these new skills in short scenes performed at the end of the week.
