This musical production experience with Imagination Stage is not just about putting on a show, but immersing campers in performance technique and theatre appreciation. Half the day is spent in a variety of skill-building classes, from core subjects in acting, singing, and dance to specialty skills such as stage combat and make-up. The second half of the day is spent applying those skills to the rehearsal of a musical. Imagination Stage performances reflect the sophisticated training of our actors. Campers can expect other fun aspects of their camp experience to include daily “Show & Go” performances, “Funtabulous Friday” themed days, and an end-of-session talent show. The final performance is held on either July 12 or 13 (depending on company assignment) at 7:00 p.m. Before and After Care available.

Please note that this camp is held off site at the lovely Charles E Smith Jewish Day School. As guests in their space, all campers and staff are required to bring vegetarian lunches only; no meat or shellfish is allowed. Peanut butter and non-shellfish fish is permitted.

Newsies JR**, inspired by the rousing true story of newsboys in turn-of-the-century New York City, features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. When powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsies' expense, the charismatic Jack Kelly rallies workers from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions. Together, the newsies learn that they are stronger united and create a movement to fight for what's right. Including the now-classic songs "Carrying the Banner," "Seize the Day," and "Santa Fe," Newsies JR is a timeless story full of spirit and heart.

**Broadway JR scripts are adapted by Music Theatre International to be best achieved in an educational/camp setting: the script is edited for length and the score is sometimes transposed to keys that sit most comfortably for adolescent voices.
