The Musical Theatre Conservatory is an intensive, two-semester acting technique training opportunity for students entering grades 7-12. In Semester 1, students participate in advanced-level classroom work in acting and singing techniques (character building, lyric/text analysis, physicality/movement, and scene work). Semester 2 focuses on the actor’s process in rehearsal and building performance material for their end-of-year performance; a final Showcase in the Reeve Studio Theatre for family and friends and an invited panel of guests that includes area directors, casting directors, and university faculty who provide individualized feedback.
Conservatory spots are open only to students selected through an audition process. Candidates should have previous acting experience (classes and shows) and be eager to learn and expand their technique. Auditions are conducted via video submission of a monologue and answer to interview questions. Materials and instructions are provided to all candidates.
Please visit our website for more information on our Advanced Training Programs or contact Nikki Kaplan (nkaplan@imaginationstage.org/301-280-1624) to ask any questions or to receive the audition instructions and materials.
