Do you make drums out of pots and pans? Does your blanket become your costume? Do you love to sing along to your favorite song? Then this camp is for you! In Acting and Music Adventures, campers bring stories to life–or even create their own–using songs and dramatic play. Students are introduced to pattern and rhythm through beginner music lessons, instrument play, and creative movement to music. Activities are designed to encourage creative expression while promoting confidence and self-esteem. Grab your favorite instrument and get ready to join the band!
A typical day at camp begins with a full group welcome and warm up, followed by themed free-play stations, a creative drama activity, a snack and movement break (snack is brought from home), visual art, and an exploratory musical moment before heading to lunch and recess. The afternoon provides more time to engage in themed play stations, a drama or music workshop with special guest instructors, an interactive story activity, and a final group closing featuring silly songs, skits, and camper spotlights. At the end of the session, campers show off their newly sharpened theatre arts skills in an informal sharing for friends and family on the last day of camp.
Campers provide their own nut-free lunch and snacks.
Acting and Music Adventures is held offsite at our neighborhood partner: The Primrose School of Downtown Bethesda, located one block from Imagination Stage (8101 Glenbrook Rd, Bethesda).
After-care is available from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Imagination Stage.
