WAITLIST 1218 Create Your Own Adventure
Rising Grades K-2
July 22-26
9:00-4:00
1 Week
Primrose School (8101 Glenbrook Rd, Bethesda)
$550
Brackish water trickles down the stones of the dungeon hallway. A group of adventurers appears in the torch light; among them are a space princess, a bigfoot pirate, and a ghost ninja. They open the creaking door and disappear into the light spilling from beyond. What happens next? That’s up to you! This camp brings students' imaginations to life as they explore story structure while building their actor’s tools of body, voice, mind, and imagination. Students use dramatic play, movement, music, and visual art to create their own adventures and bring them to the stage!
A typical day at camp begins with a full group welcome and warm up, followed by themed free-play stations, a creative drama activity, a snack and movement break (snack is brought from home), visual art, and an exploratory musical moment before heading to lunch and recess. The afternoon provides more time to engage in themed play stations, a drama or music workshop with special guest instructors, an interactive story activity, and a final group closing featuring silly songs, skits, and camper spotlights. At the end of the session, campers show off their newly sharpened theatre arts skills in an informal sharing for friends and family.
Campers provide their own nut-free lunch and snacks.
Create Your Own Adventure is held off site at our neighborhood partner: The Primrose School of Downtown Bethesda, located one block from Imagination Stage (8101 Glenbrook Rd, Bethesda).
After-care is available from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Imagination Stage.
