“The wind started to blow. The tree house started to spin. It spun faster and faster. Then everything was still.” Where will the Magic Treehouse take us this summer? Join Imagination Stage (along with Jack and Annie) and flex your actor tools of body, voice, mind, and imagination to bring some favorite Treehouse stories to the stage…or maybe write a new one to add to the series! Using drama, music, and movement activities, campers build arts vocabulary and problem-solving skills as we embody exciting new characters and settings. The sky's the limit when the treehouse can take us to any place, any time.
A typical day at camp begins with a full group welcome and warm up, followed by themed free-play stations, a creative drama activity, a snack and movement break (snack is brought from home), visual art, and an exploratory musical moment before heading to lunch and recess. The afternoon provides more time to engage in themed play stations, a drama or music workshop with special guest instructors, an interactive story activity, and a final group closing featuring silly songs, skits, and camper spotlights. At the end of the session, campers show off their newly sharpened theatre arts skills in an informal sharing for friends and family.
Campers provide their own nut-free lunch and snacks.
Magic Treehouse Adventures is held off site at our neighborhood partner: The Primrose School of Downtown Bethesda, located one block from Imagination Stage (8101 Glenbrook Rd, Bethesda).
After-care is available from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Imagination Stage. After-care campers walk with the Camp Manager from Primrose to Imagination Stage.
