WAITLIST 1236 Intro to Shakespeare | Sketch Comedy
Rising Grades 6-8
June 24-28
9:00-4:00
1 week
Imagination Stage
$550
Be just, and fear not… learning Shakespeare! Throughout the week, students explore the diverse characters of Shakespeare’s plays, the heightened story moments, and learn how he used language to tell the stories we still perform today. Acting exercises and character exploration come together as student performers take selected scenes from the page and onto the stage. There is a reason we still perform these plays after so many years; come discover it with us! The play’s the thing…
In the afternoon, students bid the Bard farewell and become the writers of their own comedic scripts! This camp provides students the opportunity to write and perform their own comedy sketches in a supportive and encouraging environment. Students work collaboratively to create structured skits while further developing their own unique sense of humor. Through a combination of improvisation exercises and structured writing activities, students create their own SNL-adjacent comedy sketches to be performed in front of family and friends on the final day of class.
Campers provide their own nut-free lunch and snacks. Week-long after-care is available (4:00-6:00 p.m.).
