WAITLIST 1237 Acting for Camera | Physical Comedy
Rising Grades 6-8
July 1-5 (no camp on Thursday, July 4)
9:00-4:00
1 week
Imagination Stage
$495
Mornings are spent in front of a camera as actors learn how to adapt their acting technique from stage to screen. Campers are introduced to a variety of exciting and challenging film-specific needs such as shooting scenes out of order (sequencing), blocking (consistency and hitting your mark), and film shots (adjusting for close-up shots and wide shots). Ready for your close up?!
The afternoons may get silly, but physical comedy is nothing to sneeze at… unless you're sneezing out a giant handkerchief! Campers dive into the hilarious world of slapstick, clowning, and commedia while expanding their acting technique through physicality control, characterization, and interplay with their fellow actors. We also develop an understanding of comedic timing and story structure. And of course, no clowning camp experience would be complete without learning how to safely smack someone with a giant crayon.
Campers provide their own nut-free lunch and snacks. Week-long after-care is available (4:00-6:00 p.m.).
