“Do you quarrel, sir?” Mornings in this exciting camp are spent exploring the connections between fight choreography and comedic storytelling in Shakespeare’s most active scenes. Campers practice the techniques of staged fight choreography and learn about the principles of safe physical interaction on stage. They learn to incorporate comedic timing into choreographed fights for the theatre while also incorporating some of the Bard’s most complex and ingenious wordplay. Campers develop physical discipline, focus, and a refined sense of comedic storytelling.
In the afternoons, shift from combat to dance battles! Broadway is in need of dancers and there’s no better way to prepare than by taking this camp. Campers explore foundational dance techniques, begin to build strength and flexibility, and learn to express emotion and character through movement. Campers apply their technique work to choreography of some of Broadway’s best dance numbers.
Campers provide their own nut-free lunch and snacks. Week-long after-care is available (4:00-6:00 p.m.).
