Improvisation–the art of acting without a script! But it's so much more than just ad-libbing. The technique of improv requires active listening, clarity of choices and intent, confidence, timing, and teamwork. Throughout this week, teen performers learn how to create clear character and conflicts that spontaneously move the story forward through participating in theatre games and short-form improvised scenes. Improv is a team sport, relying on collaboration, teamwork, groupthink, and trust. Put that all together with a couple of wacky audience suggestions and a big dose of imagination for a well-oiled, improv machine by the end of the week! An informal sharing of their work is performed on the final day.
