This camp is a comprehensive immersion into professional filmmaking. The fast and intensive pace is designed for students with some, little, or no experience in filmmaking. During the first week, campers develop a story and learn cinematography and editing techniques as well as the pre-production design process of making a film. The second week is focused on production, in which teams go on location to film their movie. Students rotate through crew positions such as camera operator, sound engineer, and cinematographer, using our professional equipment. In the final week, campers work individually or in small groups to edit their film and add their own aesthetic touch. A professional filmmaker directs and teaches this camp, and film students from colleges across the country lead the small film teams over the three weeks. The camp culminates in a premiere film screening on the last day.
