1239 Acting for the Camera | Intro to Stand Up
Rising Grades 6-8
July 15-19
1 Week
9:00-4:00
Imagination Stage
$550
Mornings are spent in front of a camera as actors learn how to adapt their acting technique from stage to screen. Campers are introduced to a variety of exciting and challenging film-specific needs such as shooting scenes out of order (sequencing), blocking (consistency and hitting your mark), and film shots (adjusting for close-up shots and wide shots). Ready for your close up?!
In the afternoon, campers engage in the process of creating a “set” for a stand-up comedy routine. From writing jokes and sketches to learning how to “work” an audience, campers explore the importance of point of view, stage presence, body language, and connecting with an audience while further developing their own unique sense of humor. Through a combination of improvisation exercises and structured writing activities, students create their very own stand-up comedy sets for a company stand up show!
Campers provide their own nut-free lunch and snacks. Week-long after-care is available (4:00-6:00 p.m.).
