In Fundamentals of Musical Theatre, students work on creating believable characters for the stage as well as developing strong and healthy singing skills. Students participate in fun acting activities that focus on expressive character building, playing a strong objective, and understanding the dynamics of a scene. Students also spend time developing their vocal technique through warm ups, breath work, range stretching, and vocal placement exercises. Games and activities are played to help students build a solid and caring ensemble, creating a supportive environment where bold character choices and risk taking are encouraged. At the end of the semester, students share 2-3 musical theatre selections showcasing the skills they have developed throughout the semester.
