Rule your school with pizzazz! This class draws inspiration from popular school musicals such as High School Musical, Footloose, Mean Girls, and School of Rock. In this class, students work on two of the disciplines that make up musical theatre: singing and dancing! Dance technique focuses on Broadway-jazz combined with the various cultural dance styles explored in these musicals. Students develop flexibility, coordination, proper alignment and footwork, and strong and clean extension of the arms and legs. Singing work addresses vocal placement, syncopated rhythms, and breathing while challenging students to stretch the range of their voices. These techniques are brought into the rehearsal process. The last day of class culminates in rehearsing two to three musical theatre songs with choreography performed in a final sharing for family and friends.
