In this class, students work on two of the disciplines that make up musical theatre: singing and dancing! Students explore the world of Broadway using age-appropriate vocal and dance techniques and exercises. Vocal work includes appropriate breathing, projection, and singing on pitch. The movement portion of the class covers the basic technique of Broadway-jazz dance including the box step, grapevine, pivot, jazz hands, and turns. Students work towards singing and dancing at the same time, while performing and portraying the story and character through body language and facial expression. The last day of class culminates in an informal sharing of two to three musical theatre songs for family and friends.
