9/21-12/7

No class on 10/12, 11/30

Students begin to develop the skills and techniques needed to perform in film or television! Actors focus on subtlety and realism required for camera work, building a relaxed natural presence for the screen. They are also introduced to a variety of exciting and challenging film-specific needs, such as shooting scenes out of order (sequencing), blocking (consistency and hitting your mark), and film shots (adjusting for a close-up shot versus a long shot). We look at the day-to-day of making a film, the ins and outs of a production day, as well as the gear and various people you might find when you step onto set. Using a script and a professional camera, this class culminates in a screening or live film work of short scenes or activities demonstrating the skills they have been learning throughout the class. Get ready for your close up!
