This high-energy dance class uses fun and age-appropriate hip-hop and pop music to introduce young children to the basic elements of rhythm and hip-hop dance. Dance instructors draw from popular music, rhymes, and images to help students learn movement and choreography. Dancers develop skills in rhythm work, learn how to perform body isolations, learn choreography as a group, and practice the art of free-style dancing to develop their own hip-hop style. Classwork culminates in a final sharing for families on the last day of class. Classroom sharings offer an insightful look into the process of refining foundational skills over the 14-week semester, providing a glimpse into the classroom experience at Imagination Stage.
