Join the wayfinder and set sail on a musical adventure! Using music from the popular Disney movie Moana (and maybe the upcoming sequel!), students explore the fundamentals of musical theater. Students are introduced to fun vocal warm-ups that promote healthy singing practices and musical concepts of rhythm, melody, and pitch. Students also participate in creative drama activities designed to explore character and story and develop an understanding of storytelling through song. Students put together two to three song selections from Moana in a sharing for families to enjoy during the final class. Classroom sharings are a chance to showcase the foundational skills that students work to refine during their 14-week semester. Sharings provide an insightful and detailed look at the process of exploring and polishing performance techniques, and are a truly wonderful opportunity to catch a glimpse of the classroom experience at IStage.
