Designed for experienced actors, this course delves into the collegiate concept of Scene Study; the intensive exploration of text work to foster nuanced character development, emotional range, and a strong grasp of interplay with one’s scene partner. By jumping immediately into rehearsal of scenes from plays, actors work on refining their actor’s process, listening and responding truthfully and spontaneously in the moment, and making bold and specific choices. Actors also learn how to quickly incorporate direction and feedback from peers and the instructor, making them actors who can be flexible and playful throughout the rehearsal process. This class is ideal for intermediate to advanced level actors who want to take their skills to a more professional level.
This part of our Masterclass series is taught by Director of Education, Nikki Kaplan. Prerequisites: Actors must have a solid foundation in acting, typically demonstrated through prior classroom training (such as Actors Toolbox or Acting: Scene Study) or significant performance experience (such as the IStage Performance Ensemble or school production). For questions, please contact Nikki Kaplan (nkaplan@imaginationstage.org).
