Offered during both the Fall and Winter/Spring semesters, this pre-Pegasus company is designed for middle school students with cognitive and/or developmental disabilities, providing the opportunity to learn the basics of theatre in a supportive and collaborative environment. Through stories and short scenes, students explore character development, relationships between characters, objectives, and world-building. Students also learn about stage directions and theatre vocabulary. Students are encouraged to try their hand at memorizing and/or being prompted for their spoken, signed, and/or physicalized lines, blocking, and movement. The year culminates in a staged performance of short stories or scenes, demonstrating the skills they have been developing. This class provides an excellent opportunity to prepare for future performance experiences at school or at Imagination Stage through our Pegasus ensemble when they reach high school age.
