Race Jack and Annie to the next adventure as you climb up the ladder to the tree house and start a story of your own! Using the popular adventure book series as a springboard, students develop an understanding of character, setting, and plot to create their own dramatic adventures - perhaps the next Jack and Annie mission from Morgan! Students learn to use their actor’s tools of body, voice, mind, and imagination while building literacy skills and exploring story structure through dramatic play. Activities are designed to encourage creative expression and promote confidence and self-esteem. Climb aboard the magic tree house and let’s set off on an unforgettable journey!
A typical day at camp begins with a welcome and warm up, followed by themed free-play stations, a creative drama activity, a snack and movement break (snack is brought from home), visual art, and an exploratory musical moment before heading to lunch and recess. The afternoon provides more time to engage in themed play stations, a drama or music workshop, an interactive story activity, and a final group closing featuring silly songs, skits, and camper spotlights. On the last day, campers show off their newly sharpened theatre arts skills in an informal sharing for friends and family.
Campers provide their own nut-free lunch and snacks.
Creative Drama: Magic Treehouse Adventures is held off site at our neighborhood partner: The Primrose School of Downtown Bethesda, located one block from Imagination Stage (8101 Glenbrook Rd, Bethesda).
After-care is available from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
