In the morning, campers unleash their creativity as they collaborate with their peers and a teaching artist to develop an original piece of theatre. Campers create short scenes, monologues, or ensemble-style movement surrounding a theme that is important to the group. Campers gain insight into the play creation process using writing prompts and up-on-your feet exercises. No experience required, just a willingness to create.
In the afternoon, campers explore spontaneous storytelling with improvisation! Improvisation is a fun and challenging art form that encourages spontaneous character creation, the unraveling of story in real time, hilarious conflicts, and comedic timing. Performers must actively listen and contribute to the story in ways that keep the scene going and support their scene partners. Campers develop important acting skills such as active listening, clarity of choice, intent, confidence, and teamwork.
Campers provide their own nut-free lunch and snacks. Week-long after-care is available (4:00-6:00 p.m.).
