Character development and story building take center stage as teens explore some of the more sophisticated concepts and approaches to acting. Using challenging and relevant script selections, student artists learn to analyze a script for elements of character such as objectives, tactics, and moments of decision. Performers build an acting ensemble through guided improvisations and group exercises that foster positive relationships and bravery allowing them to take risks and apply feedback to their performances, make bold choices, and better realize their own artistic voice. Skills are applied to short 2-3 person scenes that are selected for their ability to illustrate the actor’s process.
