This musical production experience with Imagination Stage is not just about putting on a show but immersing campers in performance technique and theatre appreciation. Our new 3-week full day intensive format provides a truly immersive experience to fuel your interest and excitement in theatre. Campers work side by side with each other and their directing teams to not only build their show but learn many aspects of performance and theatre arts. Half the day is spent in a variety of skill-building classes, from core subjects in acting, singing, and dance to specialty skills such as stage combat and voice acting. The second half of the day is spent applying those skills to the rehearsal of a musical. Imagination Stage performances reflect the sophisticated training of our actors. Campers can expect other fun aspects of their camp experience to include daily “Show & Go” performances, “Funtabulous Friday” themed days, and an end-of-session talent show. The final performance is held on either August 6 or August 7 (depending on company assignment) at 7:00 p.m. Before Care available.
Footloose: Youth Edition, When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn't prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town's youth that he cannot command in his own home. The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. To the rockin' rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top 40 score and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musical, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.
Please note that this camp is held off site at the lovely Charles E Smith Jewish Day School (11710 Hunters Lane, Rockville MD 20852). As guests in their space, all campers and staff are required to bring vegetarian lunches only; no meat or shellfish is allowed. Peanut butter and non-shellfish fish are permitted.
