Acting for the Camera

10 weeks
Saturdays, 9/22-12/1
Grades 4-5
Class #5746

In this class, students use their actor’s tools (body, voice, mind, and imagination) to build fundamental skills that will translate to film work. Students explore acting perspectives from both behind and in front of the camera. Students work on obtaining a relaxed, natural presence in front of the camera and are introduced to a variety of exciting and challenging film-specific needs such as shooting scenes out of order (sequencing), blocking (consistency and hitting your mark), and film shots (adjusting for a close-up shot versus a long shot). Class work culminates in a screening of a selection of student work demonstrating the skills they have been learning throughout the semester.
