Broadway Song and Dance

10 weeks
Saturdays, 9/22-12/1
Grades 2-3
Class #5780

In this class, students work on two of the disciplines that make up musical theatre: singing and dancing! Students explore the world of Broadway using age-appropriate vocal and dance skills. Vocal work includes appropriate breathing, projection, and singing on key. The movement portion of the class covers the basic technique of Broadway-jazz dance such as the box step, grapevine, pivot, jazz hands, and turns. Dancers work towards singing and dancing at the same time while performing the story of a song and portraying a character with body language and facial expression. The class culminates in two or three musical theatre songs with full choreography for an end of semester final sharing.
