Acting for the Camera

10 weeks
Saturdays, 9/22-12/1
Grades 6-8
Class #5759

Acting for the Camera teaches students how to adapt their acting technique from stage to screen. Students engage in foundational acting exercises to grow their skills in character building and scene work, but also delve into the vocabulary necessary for film acting. Students work on obtaining a relaxed, natural presence in front of the camera and are introduced to a variety of exciting and challenging film-specific needs such as shooting scenes out of order (sequencing), blocking (consistency and hitting your mark), and film shots (adjusting for a close-up shot versus a long shot). This class is great preparation to audition for the Screen Actor’s Project (grades 9-12) or for our filmmaking program’s student directed films (grades 7-12) that shoot throughout the year.
