Summer Production: The Good Doctor

2 Weeks
Monday-Friday, 6/17-6/28
1:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
Grades 9-12
Class #6342

High school actors rehearse and perform a play in the Reeve Studio Theatre! Under the guidance of one of our professional directors and guest teaching artists, actors perform a play in the black-box theatre style, wherein actors rely on their use of body, voice, and strong acting technique to carry the story. Jumping right into rehearsal, actors experience a professional and intensive process that is fast-paced and fun over the course of two weeks.

This summer’s play is the hilarious comedy, The Good Doctor, written by multiple Oscar and Tony-Award winning playwright, Neil Simon. A writer, suffering from a terrible case of writer’s block, shares a series of vignettes that expose the ridiculous, tender, outlandish, innocent, and weird frailties of human beings. Each scene tells its own story. “The Sneeze” depicts a government clerk over-apologizing and having a nervous breakdown after accidentally sneezing on a General during a night out at the opera. “The Audition” portrays an actress who walked four days from Odessa to Moscow to audition for the Writer's next play and uses most of her audition time to gush over the Writer. The Good Doctor promises a laugh-out-loud performance of infectious humor, touching tenderness, and unending fun.
